YOU BOX x Monsters
With YOU BOX x Monsters, the class project was to create logos and an ad capturing the essence of YOU BOX -- the encapsulation of time. Thus working with the company Monsters of Hip Hop, for a dancer, that would entail creating a product both fully displaying the tangible aspects of Monsters and the usefulness of YOU BOX.

Process:
When the image doesn't come naturally to me, I search for what I'd like to create. In this case, I wanted to work with my old photography. I chose the image based on the feeling it emitted. And then chose an ad type to look towards for inspiration. The ad choice: Nature. Then, I decided to keep the model, but change the background because of how the coat and the lighting likened the image to that of a mysterious place, I chose a white background.
After the white background was added, I chose to use a new layer to create designs within it.
With this specific one, I'm exploring abstract design. I first explored waterfalls as the source of light or focus for the model's eyes; then after a long stent of playing around, I chose to underlay the background with another photo I took of a friend looking down a cliff he'd climbed. And then chose paint strokes to bring a 90's esque feel to the image. Lastly, I chose to make the source of light, thus, more literal and less abstract. To remind the audience that the piece is abstract, I chose to be literal where it felt the most translucent.
